Mr. Parker has represented insurance companies his entire legal career, currently concentrating in complex environmental insurance coverage and toxic tort litigation involving issues of defense and indemnity under primary, excess, and umbrella commercial coverages. In the recent past, Mr. Parker’s practice focused on insurance coverage litigation (including rescission) and coverage advice under commercial professional (lawyers and accountants), directors and officers’ (including lines issued to not-for-profit companies), commercial general (including advertising and personal injury), and construction liability policies, reinsurer auditing of underlying claims, and asserted bad faith denial of coverage.
Before that, Mr. Parker represented insurance and reinsurance companies in insurance coverage litigation relating to asbestos claims, including bankruptcy, insolvency, and preference issues, class action litigation against insurance companies arising out of automobile and inland marine lines, insolvency issues, premium collection, and in corporate areas such as establishment and operation (such as regulation, auditing, ongoing coverage issues, and access to excess and reinsurance markets, including Lloyd’s) of alternative vehicles including an Illinois Religious and Charitable Risk Pooling Trust and a captive insurer based in the Cayman Islands for a group of hospitals. Mr. Parker has also engaged in coverage litigation in automobile and homeowners’ lines.
Throughout his legal career, Mr. Parker has represented a variety of businesses in litigation and non-litigation contexts. Mr. Parker has tried, by himself, over fifteen bodily injury jury trials to verdict, and has filed and prosecuted approximately ten appeals.
Mr. Parker maintains an active membership in the Illinois State Bar Association’s Section of Insurance Law.
